That Night

I fell in love with you that night, under a blanket of stars, by a fading blaze, faced by the endless horizon of the sea—the dark and mysterious window to tomorrow.

And as we stood there, the rest of the world just faded as I tried to say a million things by the way I held your hand, the awe in my eyes, and the way I stood there next to you—frightened but sure.

Still trembling inside, I started to talk about the endless sea and the un-breaking of the dawn—willing for you to read between the lines; dying for you to understand what has been hidden from you for so long—the depth and gravity of this longing. I stood there, struggling to bring light to this mess.

Faced with the impossible, all I need is the thought of you, the very sight of you, and I’d hold on to this darkness for eternity.
