Swinging door

I rush through
Breaking the surface
A crash
Descending
Abandoned
Surrounded
I open my eyes
A sea of blue
With darkness below
And the surface fading

Panic strikes
Limbs flailing
Choking
A faint whisper:
Breathe
I gasp for air
Hysterical
Dying
Losing grip
Whispers
I pant
I gulp
I suffocate

Exhausted
I give up
Give in
I sink
Stiff and cold
I think, wonder, and behold
I watch the descent

Reaching the end
With nowhere else to go
I step through
