Ma-ria

Clouded in by puffs of smoke
Bludgeoned by bass and booms
Amidst the dirt and grime
Of false ambitions and pretenders
Of empty lives and shallow dreams
Surrounded by the carefree and the insecure
A vision chanced upon me

Emerging from the drunken haze
Slowly taking shape
Was the marvelous sight
Of a pure soul

She dwells in such places
But she radiates like summer's day
She is warmth upon touch of skin
Melting the cold of indifference
She is the comfort in soft sheets
A long forgotten lullaby

Oh, that familiar light
That stabs into your chest
Grabs your hopes and desires
And drags it wherever it goes
That light has come again
It keeps me on my toes
In neverending anticipation
In regret and ambition

Will I only have that one night?
Let the dreamer's dreams take flight
