The crickets sing their songs again
My eyes remain open, remain strained
The streetlight shines through the window
The television silently flickers
But a blurry vision is all I see
Past the witching hour
My body trembles and my gaze remains steady
The dreams have turned into an addiction
For so long they were the only life I craved for
But I can no longer stand mere shadows of your grin
And a clenched fist in place of your hand
As you lay in gentle slumber
Under the same moonlit sky
As you dream
And as angels watch over one of their own
Do you know that you are being dreamt of?
Every night and every day
The birds will soon perch on my windowpane
The darkness will be overwhelmed by light
And I’ll still be waiting
Awake but unable to move
Heart slowly beating
Hardly breathing
Waiting for the day
One day we will be together
No more illusions
Or hallucinations
Just you and me and the rest of our lives
But for now I remain frozen
Dreaming with my eyes open
Never letting go of hope
Waiting for the day
